Fallen leaves + water = your new favorite plate.
If a tree falls in the forest, it may not make a sound—but it does make a plate. Or a bowl, or a serving dish. This minimalist disposable dinnerware is fashioned from fallen palm leaves, in sizes and shapes aplenty for any kind of spread. They’ll hop into the compost bin once the festivities are over, or break down on their own in about two months’ time if they find their way into the rubbish bin. (Yeah...they’re a no-brainer for your next big party.)

Fallen leaves, steam, heat, and pressure -- how’s that for a short ingredient list? In rural India, founder Michael Dwork learned that these four things make a perfect plate. And so he launched a topnotch line of compostable and chemical-free dinnerware, after figuring out how to recapture and reuse 80% of the water used in production. While he was at it, he generated hundreds of fair-wage jobs in South Asia. No big.

Not what I expected
I have used Bambu brand for years. I needed some luncheon size plates and have been shopping at Food 52 recently so thought I'd try their offering. How different could it be? right.. Well they are very different from the Bambu brand. Much coarser a product not nearly as nice. They have a rough finish and are quite unattractive. Fortunately I only have 25 plates to use. I won't be ordering them again.
Like the idea
We picnic quite often. We use a lot of compostable paper plates. I thought these would be a nice alternative to those for our personal summer dinners and picnics. They are rough but sturdy. I was a little disappointed in the appearance. I’m not sure why , just expected more. Same for the bowls.
Love
Love these. Perfect for those mass, outdoor gatherings, when using real plates is just not an option.
