Add a set of small specialty knives to your kitchen arsenal—they’re from the cult-status French brand Opinel, who have been manufacturing high quality knives since 1890. The pantry knife is used the same as a paring knife: peeling and chopping vegetables and fruit, and trimming cuts of meat. Cut through tomatoes and eggs undisturbed with the the serrated knife. The vegetable knife has a curved blade with a serrated back edge; use the serrated edge for gently scraping young, tender vegetables clean, and the opposite side to cut them tidily. Use the vegetable peeler on carrots and potatoes—its small stature makes it very easy to wield, and it has a pointed tip to dig out brown spots or tubers.
