Get baking.
This lame (pronounced "lahm") is handcrafted from black walnut wood and features knurled brass thumbnuts for quick and easy blade replacement. You'll need it to slash your loaves before baking to allow for rapid expansion of the hot dough. The result? A light, airy and beautiful loaf.

Perfect
To date, this is one of the best gifts I have gotten for a choosy recipient. He had been thinking of fashioning one out of a razor blade and a chopstick but this is safer!
Beautiful and simple
Until I found this gorgeous lame, I had been using a knife to crosshatch my bread. What a difference it makes! It has a lovely balanced feel, and makes clean and accurate cuts.
