Before initial use and after subsequent uses, hand wash with warm, soapy water. 2. Dishwasher use is not advised, as discoloration will occur due to the cleaning agents used in automatic dishwasher detergent. This discoloration is merely cosmetic and will not affect baking properties or safety of the pan. 3. Natural aluminum pans work well with parchment paper, silicone baking mats, and also traditional butter or shortening and flour methods. 4. Nylon, wood, or silicone utensils are recommended. Metal utensils and scouring pads may scratch natural aluminum pans, but will not affect baking performance.

Excellent purchase

I am a veteran pie maker who has used many, many different pie plates for my all-butter crusts. This is the first pie pan that has given me consistent, deeply brown bottom crusts. I have used it twice--once for a cherry pie and once for a blueberry/rhubarb and the bottom crust has been great both times. The size of the pie plate is huge--a major plus for me. The only other metal pie plate I have used was disappointingly small. My only criticisms are that the plastic dome does not fit well if the pie has a generous crust. Not a major problem for me, but something to know. Also, my crusts have been sticking to the pie plate more than they ever have before. Again, it's not a big issue but something to note. Overall, it is an exceptional pie plate and my new go-to. I highly recommend it to all bakers.

Life Saver

I always want to take pies/cakes places, but haven't had a good pan conducive to travel-until now! This lovely pan has a nice domed lid so I can take a single layer cake as well! And the metal is nice and thick-no warping here!
