So the name sounds French, yes, but choucroute garnie comes from the French region of Alsace, which has a heavy German influence—hence the use of pickled cabbage (choucroute) and all kinds of delectable sausages. It’s basically a platter of hot sauerkraut, sausages and potatoes. This pack even includes a recipe! All you need to bring are potatoes, some whole-grain mustard, and a hearty appetite.
