What a sweet surprise.

Here’s an advent calendar we can’t wait to pop into all season long: It’s shaped just like a party cracker, with numbers all over to make every December day a special occasion. And inside? You’ll find 24 chocolatey treats, from decadent mini-bars and fruity confections to dark chocolate pralinés. They’re all handmade in France and dreamed up by pastry chef Nicolas Cloiseau, so you may be tempted to sample more than one (don’t say we didn’t warn you).

La Maison du Chocolat has been hand-making fine French chocolates since 1977, when master chef Robert Linxe opened his very first boutique in Paris. Their truffles, pralines, bars, and other confections have garnered quite the following over the years, and no wonder—Linxe is now considered by many to be the greatest chocolatier in the world. Now, it’s all overseen by a new master chef Linxe chose himself: Nicolas Cloiseau (and after tasting these treats for ourselves, we certainly approve).

Lovely to look...but boring

I loved the packaging but the chocolates were pretty boring. Lots of repetition and nothing interesting. I think the necessity to pick chocolate that would last a long time was probably the issue. Nonetheless, after multiple days of chocolate covered nuts, opening each day’s door lost its fun.

Beautiful packaging; poor chocolate variety

This is a beautiful gift to receive--the packaging is gorgeous and could probably be reused year after to year. However, there just isn't enough variety among the chocolates--way too many chocolate covered nuts. Very expensive for what it is.
